John Richard Wall was the first child of Josiah Wall & Sarah Ann Leager born February 1st, 1872 & christened February 25th, 1872 at St Bartholomew’s, Wednesbury.
In 1881 John & his younger brother & sister were living with their parents at Cross St, Wednesbury where his father was a shingler.
The family had moved to 33 Potters Lane, Wednesbury by 1891 & John was still living at home & working as a commercial clerk.
In 1894 John & his younger brother Ernest George emigrated to the USA sailing from Liverpool on the SS Teutonic & arriving in New York on March 1st, 1894. The ship’s manifest shows John as a clerk & Ernest was a turner.
John was living in San Francisco at the time of the US 1920 census. He was single & working as a waiter in a restaurant.
The 1940 US census shows John now described as widowed living at Redondo Beach, Los Angeles, California & lodging with Louis Veono & his wife.
John died in California on February 3rd, 1952 after being knocked down by a train.
He was buried at Corona Sunnyslope Cemetery, Corona, Riverside, California.
